Sadhana of Mahamudra

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s parinirvana, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche publicly conferred The Sadhana of Mahamudra abhisheka in Halifax in 2012. For that occasion, the Nalanda Translation Committee published several new related publications (see below).

The Sadhana of Mahamudra was discovered as terma by the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1968 while on retreat in Bhutan. We publish several editions of this text including the Vidyadhara’s original translation, which we use as liturgy in our practice, and the Translation Committee’s more literal translation, now contained in our new source book Resources for Study, which is useful in one’s study of the practice.

**NOTE: Although the group practice of this sadhana is not restricted (and thus Shambhala Centers may purchase these for their shrine rooms), purchase by individuals is restricted to tantrikas, students who have studied this in a course or intensive on the sadhana, or those who have received the Sadhana of Mahamudra abhisheka. [Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche conferred this abhisheka for new tantrikas at every Vajrayana Seminary (or equivalent program) from 1993-2008, and again in Halifax, April 2012.]
